USB On-The-Go (OTG) is a specification developed by USB-IF dedicated to mobile interfaces. This specification enables USB-compatible multimedia devices, such as USB media players, smartphones, and tablet PCs, to act as a host or carrier that enables connectivity and operability with other peripheral USB devices, such as flash drives, keyboards, and mice, without using a PC as a medium. OTG offers 4 following major technological advantages:
USB OTG specification features plug-and-play functionality allowing users to save additional video, music and electronic documents without worrying about restricted internal memory space of the smartphones or tablets.
Users can share and transfer massive amounts of files by using an USB OTG flash drive or simply using an USB OTG cable connecting two USB-interfaced devices. No additional setting is required.
USB OTG specification allows connections with external USB devices for additional functions, such as mouse, keyboard, card reader, portable hard drives and/or joysticks.
The interface bandwidth of USB 2.0 specification is up to 480 Mbps, far above WiFi (approximately 54 Mbps) and Bluetooth (approximately 25 Mbps) transmissions. Since USB is plug-and-play, no more worries about interrupted wireless signals.
To make file management simple and quick, Apacer has developed a versatile App “Apacer FileBridge”, allowing users to copy, move, delete and share files easy and fast, just like how they do it on PC.
